After last year success of Hamlet, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, the Torino Film Festival and the British theatre are united once again (Nexo Digital is responsible for distribution in Italy). This year, it’s time for another classic Shakespearean play: Romeo and Juliet. The tragedy of the star-crossed lovers has been adapted in many forms during the years: from Zeffirelli’s classic to the colourful Romeo + Juliet by Baz Luhrmann; set among Puerto Ricans in New York and in Nazis Prague. This year, the audience had the opportunity of tasting the London theatre scene of last season, thanks to the production of Romeo and Juliet, as staged by The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company, the theatre company founded by the famous actor.

“Romeo and Juliet” di Kenneth Branagh

Dopo il successo dell’Hamlet di Benedict Cumberbatch lo scorso anno, ritorna il connubio tra il Torino Film Festival e il teatro londinese, distribuito in Italia da Nexo Digital. Quest’anno tocca a un altro grande classico del teatro shakespeariano: Romeo e Giulietta. La tragedia degli amanti sfortunati è stata oggetto negli anni di numerosissimi adattamenti: dal classico di Zeffirelli al colorato Romeo + Giulietta di Baz Luhrmann; dall’ambientazione tra i portoricani di New York a quella nella Praga nazista. Al Festival di quest’anno gli spettatori hanno potuto avere un assaggio del panorama teatrale londinese della scorsa stagione con la produzione di Romeo and Juliet messa in scena da The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company, compagnia teatrale del celebre attore inglese.
