Clio Barnard writes and directs Dark River, a movie about past traumas never expelled that haunt Alice (Ruth Wilson) when she returns to the family farm after fifteen years of absence and the recent lost of her father, Richard. To (not) welcome her there is her brother Joe (Mark Stanley),  who makes immediately clear he has not forgiven her for not coming back home earlier despite the constant requests of the head of the family; both of them, for different reasons, aim to obtain the rent of the land, but their projects for the farm seem incompatible.

“Dark River” di Clio Barnard

Clio Barnard scrive e dirige Dark River, un film su traumi del passato mai esorcizzati che tormentano Alice (Ruth Wilson) nel momento del ritorno alla fattoria di famiglia dopo quindici anni di assenza e la recente morte del padre Richard. Qui a (non) accoglierla c’è il fratello Joe (Mark Stanley), che mette in chiaro da subito di non averla perdonata per non essere tornata prima nonostante le continue richieste del capofamiglia; entrambi, per ragioni diverse, puntano ad ottenere l’affitto della terra e i loro progetti per la fattoria sembrano inconciliabili.
