“JOJO RABBIT” di TAIKA WAITITI

Un doppio legame unisce Taika Waititi a Torino. Dopo What We Do in the Shadows, mockumentary in cui il regista si è divertito a esplorare la quotidianità di un gruppo di vampiri, Waititi torna a Torino per aprire la 37° edizione del Torino Film Festival con Jojo Rabbit, in cui si cimenta con una delle pagine più drammatiche della Storia – la caduta del Terzo Reich –, senza tuttavia rinunciare a un tono ironico e scanzonato. Il film, nato durante la fase di postproduzione di What We Do in the Shadows, ha avuto una lunga gestazione ma non poteva essere realizzato in un momento più adatto.

There is a double bond between Taika Waititi and the city of Turin. After the mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows, where the director explored the daily life of a group of vampires, Waititi comes back in town to open the 37thedition of the “Torino Film Festival” with Jojo Rabbit. The movie, focused on one of the most tragic episodes in the history of mankind – the fall of the Third Reich – , is characterized by irony and lighthearted tones. The filmmaker started working on this movie during the post-production of What We Do In The Shadows, but he had to wait for the right time to release it.

“What We Do in the Shadows” di Taika Waititi e Jemaine Clement

Una sveglia suona. Un braccio che esce da una bara tenta di spegnerla. La prima immagine di What We Do in the Shadows è emblematica dell’intero film, girato in stile mockumentary sulla vita quotidiana di quattro vampiri che condividono una villa in Nuova Zelanda. Ci vengono quindi presentati Viago (379 anni), il dandy di famiglia, Vladislav (862 anni), un vampiro capellone e anche un po’ pervertito, Deacon (183 anni), il giovane ribelle, e Petyr (8000 anni), il più anziano che assomiglia ormai a Nosferatu e ha smesso di parlare e di uscire la notte.
